Inventory of stationary emission sources are included in UNL’s Air Quality Operating Permit – which includes reporting/record-keeping requirements for such things as operational/fuel limitations, emissions calculations, and maintenance requirements, etc (for optimal combustion).

A brief description of the institution’s initiatives to minimize air pollutant emissions from stationary sources, including efforts made during the previous three years:
UNL uses low sulfur fuel oil and/or natural gas at City & East Campus Utility Plants. Annual testing of UP boilers, along with regular maintenance, ensures optimal combustion and efficiency. Emergency engines are limited to emergency, readiness testing or maintenance use only. Incinerator operates on natural gas & utilizes secondary combustion chamber to complete gas phase combustion for cleaner emissions.
