UNO's vision and goal related to sustainability academics and research are the same. The high-level focus areas are sustainability literacy of all graduates, faculty, and staff, and national recognition for sustainability research.

ACADEMICS & RESEARCH
Vision/Goal: All graduates, faculty, and staff are sustainability literate. Sustainability literacy is embedded in curricular and co-curricular programs, and it is realized in the (physical and virtual) classroom and through experiential learning on and off campus. UNO is nationally recognized for the advancement of sustainability research. 

Secondary Metrics -
UNO will continue tracking progress toward earning more STARS points. It is expected that the University will earn 75% (30/40) of the Curriculum Points by 2025 through improved tracking of existing efforts and expansion of sustainability education across the University.

UNO's Vision/Goals -
Sustainability is an integral part of UNO's culture and identity. Students, faculty, staff, and administrators make decisions that are environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and financially feasible.

Goal 3: Community Engagement — We are committed to preparing our students to be engaged citizens and community leaders in a diverse and evolving society. We embrace our role as an anchor in our community, bringing our teaching, research, and service resources to bear in sustainable and reciprocal community partnerships.

 Strategies:

 3.1 Build new and strengthen existing connections with a broad range of community partners.

3.2 Prepare students to be engaged citizens and community leaders in a diverse and evolving society. 3.3 Promote, recognize, and incentivize engaged scholarship. 3.4 Increase the involvement of alumni in advancing UNO priorities.

UNO's Vision/Goals -
UNO uses energy efficiently and strives to have energy produced from renewable and carbon-neutral sources equal to the amount consumed. UNO uses existing, efficient building spaces to their fullest.

RP-6.6.4 Investment of Endowment and Similar Funds

The purpose of the endowment funds is to support the University and its mission over the long-term. The endowment funds include the permanent, quasi, and term endowments. The primary investment objectives of investing the endowment funds are to:
1. Preserve the real purchasing power of the principal. This implies the endowment must be invested in a manner that the total return less the income distribution rate is greater than the
inflation rate measured by the consumer price index (CPI).
2. Provide a stable source of perpetual financial support to endowment beneficiaries in accordance with the University’s spending policy that establishes the income distribution rate.
3. Consistently integrate environmental, social and governance factors into investment management strategies, processes and practices in the belief these factors can benefit the endowment’s
performance and provide a qualitative impact consistent with the values, culture and mission of the University of Nebraska.
