A brief description of the institution’s green infrastructure and LID practices:
The University of Nebraska at Omaha created this storm water management plan (SWMP) in effort to reduce the discharge of pollutants from our campuses to the maximum extent possible (MEP), to protect water quality, and to satisfy the appropriate water quality requirements of the Clean Water Act. UNO stormwater management plan (link below) includes requirements for detecting and eliminating illicit discharge, controlling construction site runoff, preventing pollution, implementing BMPs, and conducting education and outreach. LID practices were included in all recent major construction projects. Annual inspections are performed to ensure they are operating as intended. UNO has a variety of rain and bioretention gardens, descriptions can be found at the second link below.
