A brief description of the carbon sinks, including vendor, project source, verification program and contract timeframes (as applicable):

Carbon sink was calculated from tree sampling on our campus.

Adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net GHG emissions 31,044.10 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 26,382.52 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Start and end dates of the performance year and baseline year (or three-year periods):
Performance year Baseline year
Start date May 1, 2021 Jan. 1, 2018
End date April 30, 2022 Dec. 31, 2018

A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:

2018 was the first year a GHG emission reporting for scopes 1 and 2 has been completed at the Université de Montréal.

Since then, University has extended it's reporting capabilities. Year 2018 will remain the baseline year due to lack of consistent and reduce scope datas prior to that time.

Total full-time equivalent student enrollment 38,205.30 38,114
Full-time equivalent of employees 6,836.70 6,568.60
Full-time equivalent of students enrolled exclusively in distance education 0 0
Weighted Campus Users 33,969.25 33,715.20

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user 0.91 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 0.78 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Percentage reduction in adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user from baseline:

*Important note.
A major discrepancy in the floor area data provided in 2019 compared to 2022 can be observed, particularly concerning energy intensive space. This is due to one or more calculation errors that occurred between 2016 and 2019. As a result of an internal process to review the space data, those provided in this report are now accurate.
