VELOSYMPATIQUE
This program was created to encourage communities and organizations to make cycling a real option for transportation and recreation for everybody.

Launched by Vélo Québec in 2015, the VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE movement is inspired by the Bicycle Friendly America program, created in 1980 by The League of American Bicyclists, and implemented in Ontario by Share the Road Cycling Coalition in 2010.

Communities or organizations wishing to join the VELOSYMPATHIC movement complete a comprehensive questionnaire aimed at portraying their initiatives in the five fields of intervention essential to the development of a true cycling culture: Environment, Education, Encouragement, Coaching, Evaluation and Planning (the 5E).
Vélo Québec establishes an independent committee of expert judges that assesses applications based on the answers given in the form and the results of the survey conducted with local evaluators.
The evaluation and the award of a level of certification are based on the actions implemented in each of the 5 areas of intervention (the 5E) and taking into account the realities of the organization.
On Monday June 10, 2019, Université de Montréal was recognized with the Silver certification in the sixth round of the Velosympathic Movement.
