The Université de Montréal is committed to sustainable development and expects the same commitment from its suppliers as well as ethical sourcing practices throughout their supply chain. The code of conduct demonstrates an institutional commitment to work for continuous improvement towards excellence.

The ask of interest published in 2016 by the University’s Food Services contains a sustainability section that identifies products that are associated with at least one criterion of sustainability and the products for which the University wishes to integrate sustainable alternatives in the upcoming years.

Food Services also have other suppliers for particular products such as dairies, coffee, pastas and granola bars. In these cases the choice of a supplier was partially based on sustainability criteria, such as the general quality of food, nutritional values, and locality.
