A brief description of the institution’s green event certification program:

UM's Zero Waste Event Checklist and Guidelines provide a valuable platform for anyone on campus to make their event zero waste and a model example for the UM Campus Community. Rather than certify each individual event, the Office of Sustainability uses this guide as a focus for its employee trainings and workshops and has worked 1:1 with the offices around campus that coordinate annual events with signficant impact. This includes WelcomeFeast on the Oval, football games and other athletic events, and the large events supported by our UM Catering team.
