Research Inventory
Inventory of the institution’s sustainability research:
Updated the inventory per AASHE's revisions and ended up removing 3 researchers who should not have been on the list (8/18/21).
A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
The Office of Sustainability worked with the VP for Research and Creative Scholarship to generate a master list of research staff at UM based on their grants database and listservs. Our staff removed names of former employees and duplicates, identified each name by their department and research, and totaled the list. Then, using a combination of keyword searches and our curriculum/research survey results from earlier this spring (where faculty could self-identify their research as sustainability-related), we pulled those researchers whose work is related to sustainability. Our spreadsheet has three tabs: the first is a total of all research faculty and staff; the second tab includes all sustainability-related researchers; and the third is organized by their department so that we could identify which departments were represented on the list. Please note that the list on the third tab isn't completely consolidated, but our count of 29 departments is the accurate number. The student who built the spreadsheet didn't realize that "DBS" is the same as "Dept of Biological Sciences," for instance.
