General definition of sustainability: Sustainability is the process of addressing ecological integrity, social justice, and/or the interconnections of ecological integrity and social justice with economic prosperity. Sustainability seeks to build economic prosperity without compromising social well-being and ecological health. Sustainability-focused courses concentrate on the concept of sustainability, including its social, economic, and environmental dimensions, or examine an issue or topic using sustainability as a lens. Sustainability-related courses incorporate sustainability as a distinct course component or module or concentrate on a single sustainability principle or issue.

A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the inventory:
The Universtiy surveyed faculty to identify sustainability-focused and sustainability-related course offerings. Faculty were sent (3 times in one year) a survey for self-evaluation. Student interns followed up with faculty across campus to claify the data and to identify more courses and faculty who had not participated in the survey.
