A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (1st program):

Students interested in becoming a peer educator may visit the SPROUT website and download an educator application. After submission of the application.


A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive (1st program):

SPROUT is a peer education group with the purpose of teaching Mizzou students and employees environmentally sustainable life skills. SPROUT’s role is to foster a generation of environmentally responsible Mizzou students and employees.

Peer educators will be expected to attend weekly formal training meetings and give presentations on campus.


A brief description of the staff and/or other financial support the institution provides to the program (1st program):

There are many staff liasons to the program for guidance and training purposes including but not limited to Mizzou Campus staff from the Sustainability Office and Campus Facilities, as well as the City of Columbia Sustainability Office. Many educational materials are provided, guest lecturers attend meetings, and funding is supported through the University.
