A brief description of the institution’s participation in federal TRIO programs:
MU’s Student Support Services program, TRiO CATS, is a federally funded program designed to help promising first-generation students, students with financial need, and students with disabilities meet the academic, financial, and social demands of a college education. TRiO is a group of federal programs, including Upward Bound, Talent Search, Student Support Services, and McNair Scholars, designed to help promising students meet the academic, financial, and social demands of a college education. TRiO CATS is MU’s Student Support Services program.
The MU McNair Scholars Program prepares MU students who meet federal income guidelines whose parents have not completed an undergraduate degree and/or students from groups underrepresented in graduate education. The purpose of the program is to provide enriching experiences that prepare eligible students for doctoral study.

A brief description of the institution’s policies and programs to minimize the cost of attendance for low-income students?:
Besides the various grants and scholarships available, the University also offers student employment.
MU employs students through regular part-time jobs and through the Federal Work Study Program. Jobs
typically are 10 to 15 hours per week, with wages varying by position and skill level.
Federal Work Study
The MU Office of Student Financial Aid is responsible for the initial awarding of Federal Work Study to eligible
students. This opportunity is awarded to students who:
•Demonstrate financial need
•Have filed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the Mizzou priority deadline
•Indicate an interest in part-time work
The MU Career Center administers the actual placement of Federal Work Study students in MU jobs. To find a
Federal Work Study job, visit the Career Center. Only students who have accepted Federal Work Study awards
may select from available positions, which are posted by the middle of June.

Gates Millennium Scholars Program
The Gates Millennium Scholars program provides an opportunity for outstanding minority students with significant financial need to reach their highest potential.
MU Grant
This institutionally funded, need-based grant is awarded to students showing significant financial need. Award amounts, which range from $500 to $5,000, are based on need and hours enrolled. If the student takes fewer credit hours than required for full-time enrollment, the award will be reduced prior to any disbursements.
Access Missouri Financial Assistance Program
This state need-based program for undergraduate students who are Missouri residents is designed to:
•Provide a simplified financial aid process.
•Provide predictable, portable awards.
•Increase the number of schools to which Missouri students have access.
To be considered for this award, you must be enrolled full time. Eligibility is determined by the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as calculated through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
