A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contribute to the diversion rate for construction and demolition waste:
As set forth in the Sustainable Design Guidelines, the University of Missouri is committed to diverting from sanitary landfills a minimum of 50% of the debris and waste generated from construction activities on campus. All contractors performing work for the University are required by contract to comply with an approved waste management plan. The contractor is required to submit detailed monthly reports to the university substantiating the contractors compliance with the waste management plan and detailing the types of waste diverted, amounts and final disposition.
