A brief description of the institution’s main campus and other aspects of the institutional boundary used to complete this report:
The institutional boundary is primarily comprised of UM’s main Oxford campus, as defined in the UM Master Plan and new Utilities Master Plan, as well as the 780-acre Biological Field Station and the UM Golf Course which are on the main campus utility distribution. The boundary excludes the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS, and the four satellite campuses/delivery centers located around the state.
Which of the following features are present on campus and which are included within the institutional boundary?:
Present? | Included? | |
Agricultural school | No | No |
Medical school | Yes | No |
Other professional school with labs and clinics (e.g. dental, nursing, pharmacy, public health, veterinary) | Yes | Yes |
Satellite campus | Yes | No |
Farm larger than 5 acres or 2 hectares | No | No |
Agricultural experiment station larger than 5 acres or 2 hectares | No | --- |
Hospital | Yes | No |
If there are features present that are not included within the boundary, provide:
UM's medical school and hospital (UMMC) are located in Jackson, Mississippi. There are four satellite campuses/delivery centers located throughout the state. This STARS report focuses on the main campus in Oxford, Mississippi.
Within the institutional boundary, we excluded a handful of buildings that are not connected to UM's utility distribution (thus making data collection difficult) including a historic home and several storage sheds. These buildings make up less than 0.3 percent of total campus building gross square footage within the institutional boundary. (See attached spreadsheet for more information.)
