A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):
While sustainability concepts are not directly covered in orientations, information about sustainability-related topics are covered in the Orientation Guide, which is given to all of the incoming undergraduate freshman and transfer students. The orientation leaders use this guide to lead small group discussions. Sustainability related topics in this guide include information about: the energy efficiency efforts by the university, the university’s recycling program, the university compost program, bicycle registration, the bike share program, Zimride, Zipcar, pedestrian walking trails, green infrastructure on campus, sustainability related events that are hosted at the university, the Green Fund, the Green Student Intern Program, volunteering with the Green Grove program, and volunteering at other sustainability events.
