School of Engineering - The B.S. Chemical Engineering, B.S. Civil Engineering, B.S. Electrical Engineering, B.S. Geological Engineering, and B.S. Mechanical Engineering programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, which includes sustainability related student outcomes as criteria for accreditation.
"General Criterion 3: The program must have documented student outcomes that prepare graduates to attain the program educational objectives. Social Work Program - The program in social work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. This accreditation includes nine competencies within its accreditation standards. Competency 3 is: "Advance Human Rights and Social, Economic, and Environmental Justice. Social workers understand that every person regardless of position in society has fundamental human rights such as freedom, safety, privacy, an adequate standard of living, health care, and education. Social workers understand the global interconnections of oppression and human rights violations, and are knowledgeable about theories of human need and social justice and strategies to promote social and economic justice and human rights. Social workers understand strategies designed to eliminate oppressive structural barriers to ensure that social goods, rights, and responsibilities are distributed equitably and that civil, political, environmental, economic, social, and cultural human rights are protected. Social workers: apply their understanding of social, economic, and environmental justice to advocate for human rights at the individual and system levels; and engage in practices that advance social, economic, and environmental justice."
Environmental Studies Minor- A minor in environmental studies is designed to introduce students to an interdisciplinary approach to environmental concerns, including: 1) a study of human/environmental interactions from the viewpoint of the social sciences; 2) a reflection on environmental themes in the arts and humanities; 3) the scientific foundations of environmental thought.https://catalog.olemiss.edu/liberal-arts/ba-envs-min
Dietetics Program - The dietetics program in the Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Among ACEND’s program standards for didactic program curriculum are the following required elements:
“-Role of environment, food, nutrition and lifestyle choices in health promotion and disease prevention
-Food science and food systems, environmental sustainability, techniques of food preparation and development and modification and evaluation of recipes, menus and food products acceptable to diverse populations
