Net carbon sinks 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

A brief description of the carbon sinks, including vendor, project source, verification program and contract timeframes (as applicable):

UMN Morris has a comprehensive composting program. We weigh our pre- and post-consumer organic diversion weights and we turn the materials into soil on campus and use it in our landscaping as a soil amendment. We used SIMAP to calculate the GHG offset from our composting program. We have also done organics recycling for our public school for many years -- we do not count those GHG emission reduction in our profile (which is essentially our own carbon offset project).

Adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net GHG emissions 5,874 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 11,623 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Start and end dates of the performance year and baseline year (or three-year periods):
Performance year Baseline year
Start date June 1, 2019 June 1, 2005
End date July 31, 2020 July 31, 2006

A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:

This is the standard University of Minnesota fiscal year.

A brief description of the institution’s GHG emissions reduction initiatives:

1) Two 1.65MW turbines were erected. In 2005 and 2011. 60% of campus power.
2) The Green Prairie Community residence hall was awarded LEED Gold (2014)
3) A 20kW solar PV array began generating power (2015)
4) A 240kW solar PV array began generating power (2021)
5) UMN Morris produces the most power per student of any campus in the US (2020).
6) UMN Morris carbon neutral in electricity in 2020.
