Green Ambassador Program

A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
The purpose of our Green Ambassador program is to train students to give the standard "Green Tour". All UMN Morris students are invited to participate. We provide tour training, a script, etc. Our expectation is that the newly-trained Ambassador selects a group of their own choosing -- their residence hall floormates, their friends, the members of their sports team, and offer them the same tour. Some of the key activities in this area include campus tours of our many sustainability-related assets: the on-campus biomass gasification plant, the two 1.65MW wind turbines, the 32-panel solar thermal system, solar PV, our recycling center and more.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):
The target audiences of this program are groups that are connected to each Green Ambassador. Each Green Ambassador is typically connected to several different student groups on campus. The goal is to have a cohort of Green Ambassadors to engage with those groups.

Sustainability-outreach and educational activities take place within Office of Residential life. Community Assistants (CAs) are trained to deliver a sustainability education program for their residents.

Morris Intercultural Sustainability Leaders (ISLe_) program

A brief description of the student educators program (3rd program):
A diverse set of students is selected from the student body and trained to engage with their communities on sustainability. This program is specifically intended for students-of-color at the UMN Morris campus. The ISLe interns meet with diverse professionals from across Minnesota and the US. The mentors share more about their own lives and interpretations of sustainability work.
