A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:

The University of Minnesota, Morris has worked to advance sustainability in public policy. The Chancellor of Morris, Jacqueline Johnson serves as a board member of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education and served as board chair. Johnson also served on the Second Nature board. Vice-Chancellor of Finance and Facilities, Lowell Rasmussen has served with the National Association of College and Business Officers, and their Sustainability Advisory Committee. Rasmussen had an article recently in Business Officer calling for carbon disclosure statements by colleges. Additionally, Morris is part of the larger U of M system, which has worked to advance sustainability in Minnesota.


A brief description of other political positions the institution has taken during the previous three years:

Morris has also worked on statewide policy. Morris worked with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency on developing composting rules that would assist all colleges in Minnesota in pursuing composting on their campuses. The University of Minnesota, Senate, which includes representation from all campuses, voted to support marriage equality in Minnesota, which became state law.
