The University has entered into an agreement with NiceRideMN' metropolitan shared bike system. 19 stations are located on campus for 250 - 300 bikes. Discounted rates are provided for students receiving federal aid. https://www.niceridemn.org

The University contracts with a local nonprofit to provide car-sharing services. The fleet includes 150 all electric and 50 hybrid vehicles.

The University has 13 Level 2 chargers with the capacity to charge 26 total cars at any one time. We have one Level 3 charger. All of the chargers are available free of charge - parking fees apply - to members of the University community and the public. In addition, the University has 10 addional chargers for exclusive use of its fleet vehicles.

The university is a principal partner in the business and residents neighborhood alliance, http://livenearyourwork.net/. It also provides grants to help enhance the communities surrounding the University. https://government-relations.umn.edu/good-neighbor-fund. The University also an affiliated senior housing condominium.

The University operates a biking incentive program(ZAP) that rewards employees who bike reductions in their health insurance premiums. Students in the program are rewarded with gift cards to local businesses. Nearly 3,500 registered participants to date, pretty evenly split between staff and students.
