A Deeper Dive into EVS
This course is for those who have attended Electric Vehicles (EV) in Minnesota and want to learn more. We’ll dive deeper into the EV world and discuss technology developments, market shifts, forthcoming models, and how transportation electrification impacts other industries.
(OLLI course, offered Fall 2021, Winter 2022, Spring 2022, Summer 2022 - counted as 4 courses above)

Climate Chaos: Art and Politics on a Dying Planet
This course will explore how our altering of the natural world has become our undoing, and how we can move forward with hope. It is a call for urgent action on this existential threat facing the human race. We will explore how art can change perceptions and motivate our society to live in a more sustainable way. Throughout the course we will examine visual images that define and attempt to alter how humanity will collectively shape a new relationship with the planet.
(OLLI course, offered Winter 2022)

Electric Vehicles in Minnesota
Electric Vehicles (EVs) provide a new opportunity for cleaner and more efficient transportation, but how do they work here in Minnesota? This one-session course surveys the technology behind the shift to electric, the models available in Minnesota, and how EVs are charged.
(OLLI course, offered Winter 2022, Spring 2022 - counted as 2 courses above)

Electric Vehicles (EVs) will provide a new opportunity for cleaner and more efficient transportation. Current surveys show that about 30% of people would consider an EV as their next vehicle, and auto manufacturers are bringing new, exciting options to the market at a rapid pace. This presentation dives into the technology behind the shift to electric, the models available in the United States, and how people use and charge their EVs. This presentation is sponsored by clean energy advocacy organization Fresh Energy: https://fresh-energy.org/
(OLLI course, offered Summer 2022)

Climate Change: Hopeful Engineering Perspective
The climate crisis is one of the gravest threats facing humanity and all life on our shared planet. During this one-session course, we will survey the incontrovertible evidence that our climate is changing dramatically, and that it is changing as a result of human activity. We also will discuss the possible solutions to help delay, if not avert, the catastrophes that are ahead.
(OLLI course, offered Winter 2022)

How to Talk Intelligently about Sustainable Energy
Energy creation, which caused the Industrial Revolution more than a century ago, continues to drive our society. But the coal, oil, and natural gas which have driven this revolution will at some point be depleted. Anticipating that time, we must plan how our society will operate.

This class will discuss how to make our energy- dependent society sustainable. The class assumes mathematical knowledge, like that used in balancing a checkbook, and chemical knowledge, like knowing CO2 is carbon dioxide. The class does not say what we should do but what we could do.
(OLLI course, offered Summer 2022)
