The University of Minnesota's policy on faculty tenure specifically acknowledges interdisciplinary work and states that it may be a relevant consideration by departments in decisions on conferral of tenure. As an example, the Department of Civil Engineering states in their tenure and promotion criteria "The CE department encourages interdisciplinary work, and will consider both disciplinary
and interdisciplinary work similarly in the P&T process."
