A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support under-represented groups within the student body:

The Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence provides group and individual tutoring to University of Minnesota students. The Center helps students reduce study time by learning to study more effectively, become better prepared for exams by learning concepts and mastering course materials, develop a more personalized approach to learning, develop confidence in academic abilities, and have the opportunity to study cooperatively in small groups.


A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support under-represented groups within the faculty:

The institution sponsors IDEA: the Institute for Diversity Equity and Advocacy for University faculty. This program provides Bridge Funding for under-represented staff, encourages collaboration among interdisciplinary groups, holds speaker series and workshops for current and incoming faculty, and funds innovate research proposals. The institute is designed to enhance retention and faculty diversity by fostering stronger ties among faculty and with faculty and the local community.


A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support under-represented groups within the staff:

The University has support groups for the GBLT community and for University Women of Color. The Office of Equity and Diversity is looking to expand support to more under-represented groups within the staff.
