Yes

A brief description of other programs or initiatives to encourage more sustainable modes of transportation and/or reduce the impact of student and employee commuting:

UMD’s Bike-to-Campus Program is coordinated in partnership between the UMD Office of Sustainability, UMD’s Recreational Sports Outdoor Program, UMD Transportation & Parking, and the UMD Wellness Program. The ZAP UMD Bike-to-Campus Program aims to increase bike commuting between the campus and the community. A small tag is attached to your front wheel’s spokes. This tag is embedded with an RFID chip, similar to what runners attach to their shoelaces during running races. When you ride past a ‘Zap Station,’ you will hear a beep, and get credit for your round-trip for the day (home to campus, and back home). https://tps.d.umn.edu/sustainable-transportation/bike-campus

UMD Transportation and Parking also offers permit sharing to reduce commuting faculty, staff, or students to the campus. Do you have roommates, friends, or family that also drive to campus? Why not share the same permit? Cut the cost for yourself while at the same time assisting in reducing the number of vehicles on campus. Register as many vehicles as you wish under your name when purchasing your permit. Only one permit will be issued. https://tps.d.umn.edu/sustainable-transportation/permit-share

Additionally, UMD Transportation and Parking highlights an automatic bus access program for students and discounted passes for faculty and staff. Students are automatically assessed an $18.00 fee each semester which provides unlimited rides. UMD students registered for six or more undergraduate credits, as well as most graduate students, may jump on the bus, swipe their U Card, and ride! Those students who are not assessed the $ 18.00-semester fee may opt-in by clicking Purchase your DTA U Pass. Faculty and staff may also opt in and take advantage of the U Pass program by purchasing a $79 annual pass. https://tps.d.umn.edu/sustainable-transportation/bus/duluth-transit-authority-dta
