A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :
The Office of Sustainability trains 25 student Orientation Team Leader staff on sustainability points of interest, 70 Housing Resident Assistants on how to use the public bus in Duluth to educate residents, and 10 Admissions Tour Guides on sustainability aspects of the campus which they share during tours with prospective and current students that occur leading up to and during welcome week. All of the trainings given to the three groups are to share that information with incoming students. During Bulldog Welcome Week, students can attend SustainaPalooza -- an overview of sustainability operations on campus as well as opportunities to get involved through sustainability activities. Attendees of SustainaPalooza participate in a waste-sorting training game, make people-powered smoothies with the campus Blender Bike, put together sewing kits to encourage repairing instead of throwing away items, and decorate a compost bin that students can use in their residence hall or apartment space to promote proper waste sorting.
