Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with a published green cleaning policy, program or contract ? (0-100):

A brief description of how green cleaning is incorporated into cleaning contracts:

UMD Custodial resides in the UMD Facilities Management Department, and there are very few outside cleaning contracts (ex: exterior window washing on tall buildings.)

UMD received an Honorable Mention in the American School & University's Green Cleaning award (http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/6ada99ad?page=18#/6ada99ad/18)

Green cleaning is a topic at Custodial Management meetings with all staff, and many ideas for reusable/greener products come from the Custodial Supervisory staff. UMD Custodial staff have won Sustainability Inspiration awards for their contributions to our campus greening.

UMD Green Cleaning program information is linked on our Building page at:

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with an energy management or benchmarking program? (0-100):
100

A brief description of the energy management or benchmarking program:

UMD uses the State of Minnesota B3 Benchmarking system to track and examine building performance. The B3 tools and programs are designed to help make buildings more energy efficient and sustainable. The B3 programs have been developed for and are required on State-funded projects in Minnesota, however they are easily applied to any project. The B3 Guidelines and the SB 2030 Energy Standard can be applied to new and renovated buildings during design. B3 Benchmarking, B3 Energy Efficient Operations and the B3 Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) can be used to evaluate and improve existing buildings. More info on B3 at: https://www.b3mn.org/

UMD is currently updating and adding submeters, to better track our progress.

We also report utility usage to be transparant in our progress on water and energy use on our Campus Databook, link below or visit: http://www.d.umn.edu/sustainability/campus-initiatives

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with a water management or benchmarking program? (0-100):
100

A brief description of the water management or benchmarking program:

As decribed above, the B3 program described above also includes a section for the input of water usage. The program allows us to benchmark our water usage compared to other buildings in the State.

Because nearly the entire campus is connected by hallways and skywalks, many of our buildings are together on shared meters. UMD is currently updating and adding more submetering infrastructure, to better track our progress.

We also have a campus databook available with all data and tracking at:
