A brief description of the institution’s programs that help increase the diversity of higher education faculty :
UMD has a program known as the Instructional Development Services and they offer many types of workshops and seminars including ones on cultural diversity. This is a workshop that will be held the fall of 2011. ECOTONOS is a cross-cultural simulation game that emphasizes connections between culture, communication and task-effectiveness, identifies diversity concerns important to participants, develops greater understanding of the implications of that diversity, increases effective communication skills across that diversity,engenders the emotions involved in reaching conclusions with those dissimilar to you, highlights models of multicultural processing.
