The 2005 Campus Master Plan was updated in 2009 to add sustainability as a guiding principle for the campus.
The 2009 addendum addressed: Campus Sustainability,
Objectives and Goals, the establishment of the UMD Office of Sustainability, the UMD Sustainability Committee, Resource Publications by the University of Minnesota, Examples of Sustainability Study and Effort at UMD, and Sustainability and UMD Campus Master Plan.
