A brief description of notable policies or programs to make the institution accessible and affordable to low-income students:
The University of Minnesota Crookston offers a variety of scholarship opportunities to make costs more affordable to low-income students. These opportunities include the Promise Programs which include the U Promise Scholarship Program, Promise Plus Free Tuition Program, and Native American Promise Tuition. Under the programs, eligible Minnesota resident undergraduate students meeting the family income levels outlined who enroll at the U of M Crookston will be guaranteed funds to support their collegiate aspirations. No separate application is necessary other than applying to the institution and completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

On top of the Promise Programs the University of Minnesota Crookston offers hundreds of donor funded scholarship opportunities to both new and returning students. One application is required, applications are filtered, and reviewed on the back end. Roughly 30% of donor funded scholarships require need-based aid eligibility.

Achievement Scholarships are awarded to incoming first year on campus students based on an unweighted GPA and transfer on campus students based on a cumulative GPA. Achievement Scholarships range from $500 to $3,000 and are renewable for up to 4 years for new freshman and 3 years for transfer students.

A brief description of notable policies or programs to support non-traditional students:
"The Berland Opportunity Grant provides a financial incentive for enrollment in academic college classes for adults who have been out of school for at least four years. The objective is to encourage enrollment at the U of M Crookston by first-time adult students and adults needing retraining. The grant will pay tuition for a maximum of four credits, for one semester.

The UMC Aspire Scholarship is a donor funded scholarship that is awarded to students who are at least 25 years of age who have resumed formal education after a 5-year break.

NXT Gen AG is a new pilot program that will provide new job skills training to help develop the next generation of rural professionals. The NXT GEN Ag pilot is intended for students who are currently in the workforce and may have had some previous higher education experience. The initiative’s pathway is aimed at personal development, communication skills, and leadership techniques that can lead from a certificate into a four-year degree. A significant scholarship will cover 75 percent of course costs for the first cohort of students with the opportunity for additional dual training grants provided by employers to further reduce the cost."
