The University of Minnesota Crookston Sustainability Committee is charged with providing overall leadership for [sustainability] work, while at the same time encouraging broad participation from across the campus, community, and region. It is our responsibility to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability by what we do, and how we do it. A brief description of each sustainability office:
The University of Minnesota has a systemwide sustainability officer led by the institution's Chief Sustainability Officer (1 FTE) and supported by a Sustainability Project Manager (1 FTE). The University of Minnesota Crookston has a sustainability office specific to the campus and is led by a Sustainability Director (0.15FTE).

A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:
1) Establishment of on campus and online sustainability minor that is available to the University of Minnesota system (https://online.umn.edu/sustainability-minor); along with sustainability education page for the system (https://susted.umn.edu/)
2) Geothermal Feasibility Study was conducted
3) had a greencorp member who was focused on composting recycling; he updated all signage on campus for recycling and we started the composting program on campus with his time.
4) Continued Sustainable Life Series (1x/month event showing people across campus how sustainability can be incorporated into their lives
5) International Dinners and SDGs (public facing event where international students talk about their country; for the last 2 years the sustainability director has given an introduction to the SDGs and the students have highlighted the SDGs in their country as they talk about the culture and government of their home countries.
6) Started the collection of stuff students throw away at the end of each year (have done this last 2 years); each one is followed by a free sale in the Fall in which incoming students can pick up stuff left behind by last years studnets.
7) Revamped water bottle program; now working with the pay it forward program so water bottles filled on campus are tracked through app and rewards are applied.
8) Chats and Crafts-weekly event where peole come together to discuss gender issues while learning/practicing a craft
9) Hiring of Interns--have worked in Sustainability in Sports (Green Team goes to athletic events and does things like recycle relays; diverts waste from big events like Cinco de Mayo); Events Coordinator (working on our social media/education); recycling/composting is working with dining services and safety to get back of house composting going in Crookston
10) Created Green Office Program (faculty/staff can have their offices certified to various level of Green)--currently working on a Green space certification for other spaces like dorm rooms
