Part 1. Greenhouse gas emissions inventory
Yes
A copy of the most recent GHG emissions inventory:
A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:
The university uses the SIMAP tool for calculating emissions inventories. The inventory includes Scope 1 and 2 emissions and Scope 3 commuting and air travel. Input data is gathered by the Office of Sustainability annually from data custodians across the institution and then enters that information into SIMAP. We follow an operational control approach from the GHG Protocol (https://ghgprotocol.org/).
Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
No
A brief description of the GHG inventory verification process:
---
Documentation to support the GHG inventory verification process:

A brief description of how the institution accounted for its Scope 3 emissions:
We use air travel spend data provided by the University's Purchasing Department. That spend data is entered directly into SIMAP which calculates emissions associated with travel based on estimated emissions per $ of travel spend. For commuting, we obtain anonymized address data and use ArcGIS to calculate average travel distances from residence to campus. Assumptions are made about the amount of students living on campus and those walking within 1 mile of campus. This combined with assumptions on assumed trip frequency is entered into SIMAP to calculate estimated emissions attributable to commuting.

A brief description of the methodology(ies) the institution used to complete its air emissions inventory:
Emissions are calculated using emission factors (USEPA published & performance test based) along with monitored fuel throughput/equipment runtime data.
