Yes

A brief description of the faculty sustainability research program:
The Institute on the Environment provides a number of incentives to encourage research (including research by staff) on sustainability topics. Examples include: 1) Impact Goal Grants ($50k). With this program, the Institute on the Environment aims to launch multi-disciplinary, community-engaged partnerships to research sustainability-related topics aligned with IonE's impact goals. 2) Mini Grants ($3k). The promotion or tenure guidelines or policies:
Interdisciplinary work, public engagement, international activities and
initiatives, attention to questions of diversity, technology transfer, and other
special kinds of professional activity by the candidate should be considered
when applicable. The awarding of indefinite tenure presupposes that the
candidate's record shows strong promise of his or her achieving promotion to
professor. The promotion and tenure process (particularly the "7-12" statement) specifically acknowledges the importance of interdisciplinary work. https://faculty.umn.edu/heads-chairs/promotion-tenure-review/approved-712-statements
