Incorporating Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and supporting engagement with the broader sustainability community

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

In 2016, U-M sought innovative proposals for integrating issues of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion throughout the University. In response, U-M's Student Sustainability Initiative (SSI) applied for and received a $10,000 renewable grant to strengthen student awareness and involvement around Eco-Equity issues. To date the grant has been used to 1) create a permanent board position focused on this issue, 2) supported numerous events to advance the work *e.g., https://www.michigandaily.com/section/campus-life/over-30-attend-interactive-discussion-eco-equity), and stimulated a student project in U-M's Sustainability and the Campus course focused on developing recommendations for strengthening the Community module of the Planet Blue Ambassadors program to better incorporate issues of Eco-Equity.
