A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
The UGalapagos Marine Science program is administered directly by the Rosenstiel School interested students should contact the school directly: marsci@miami.edu. Launched in January 2010, UGalapagos takes students to the famed Galapagos Islands for a field-oriented semester of study. Through a partnership with the Intercultural Outreach Initiative, located in the picturesque community of Puerto Villamil on Isabela Island, UM offers a a six-course (17 credit) semester tailored to the needs and interests of students majoring in marine science and biology. Courses will be taught sequentially as immersive two-week experiences by UM faculty.

UCape Town offers students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in South African culture through integrating the university student experience with service learning and organized field trips throughout South Africa. An important component of the UCape Town program is service learning with organizations involved in community social change. A few examples of the many opportunities for service learning include: nature conservation, youth development, healthcare, women's issues, disability services and entrepreneurship.

Spaces of Hope: South Africa & Namibia takes place at two outstanding locations: the beautiful city of Cape Town and Kruger National Park, the world’s most iconic animal sanctuary and nature reserve. Course includes a service learning placement with Eco Children, an environmental community organization at Kruger Park. Course focuses on sustainable development, environmental conservation, and community upliftment. The course creatively combines classroom learning, site visits and field excursions, cultural activities, and service learning placement and debriefings.
