A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
We gathered data from 3 sectors using our Parking and Transportation (P&T) Department's permitting records: Parking permits sold to students in FY 2021 (we assumed all students drove alone, except for minimal carpool reporting), metro passes (metro rail and bus together) sold to students for FY 2018, and bike permits sold to students for FY 2018. From the counts we estimated the percentage for each category. Our mobility survey that was sent in 2021 helped us assess transportation habits, specifically the average mileage for each type of commuter.
Carpooling is not tracked except when reported to Florida Department of Transportation (FL DOT) during their incentive campaigns, but it remains negligible.

We gathered data from 3 sectors using our Parking and Transportation (P&T) Department's permitting records: Parking permits sold to faculty and staff (F&S) in FY 2018 (we assumed all F&S drove alone), metro passes (metro rail and bus together) sold to F&S for FY 2018, and bike permits sold to F&S for FY 2021. From the counts we estimated the percentage for each category. Carpooling is not tracked except when reported to Florida Department of Transportation (FL DOT) during their incentive campaigns, but it remains negligible. The campus offers campus shuttles for getting around the campus, but they aren't used for commuting.
