Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Green Round Up program at the Bookstore
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
Led by a Sustainable Business minor student, this initiative was launched in 2021.
The bookstore implemented the program with the student and faculty advisor. When customers finish their purchases, they are asked by the cashiers if they want to round it up to the nearest dollar. The money collected is then donated to sustainability focused student groups on campus. Every semester, the groups change. In Fall 2021, the donations went to the CommUnity Garden Club and the Food Pantry who will have to work jointly on growing healthy, local organic food for "potentially food insecure" students on campus.
