The Student Government ECO Agency and the Office of Sustainability established a plan for the installation of LEED educational signage in every new LEED certified building on our campus. Our P100 tours to UM include the following points:
Point 1
In front of the first entrance of Food court, pointing at the dashboard Kiosk in front of the Outtake:
"The kiosk you can see inside displays an energy dashboard connected to the Solar panel system which is on top of the Hurricane Food Court.
Our student government organization ECO Agency installed this 20 KW system to educate students on Renewable energy. It offsets 15% of the court’s load. To get involved with green projects like this, you have 2 main options: apply to the ECO board or intern with Green U, our office of sustainability. You can get all the info at miami.edu/greenu."
Point 2
Recycling bins in front of School of Music Technology Library:
"This campus recycles and is committed to sustainable living. Every new building here is built green. We have 17 LEED certified buildings, and the Frost School of Music building that you see over there is LEED platinum. Among its multiple green features it collects rain water to flush toilets. If you want to learn more, get in touch with Green U, our Office of Sustainability."
Point 3
Lake Osceola Signs getting closer to Hecht-Stanford:
"UM takes special care of its landscaping. This campus has been recognized as a Tree Campus USA from the nationally renown Arbor Day Foundation. Lake Osceola is an historic part of Coral Gables, and the Signs you see will help you learn more about its ecology. They were designed and installed by the student government ECO Agency.
