A brief description of when and why the workplace health and safety baseline was adopted (e.g. in sustainability plans and policies or in the context of other reporting obligations):
Data has been tracked for several decades as part of our Workers Compensation Program and reported at the State and Federal level. The baseline number of workplace injuries and occupational disease cases was revised to include our School of Medicine campus which had been omitted in our first application.

The mission of the Environmental Health and Safety Office is to provide regulatory compliance guidance in the areas of occupational and environmental health and safety, through disseminating pertinent information, offering training opportunities and making available technical and professional assistance on related fields in support of, and to enhance the University's commitment to provide a safe and healthy workplace for its faculty, staff, and students.
