A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
Typically, the Director of Environmental, Health & Safety, as a representative of Administrative Services (where the Office of Sustainability is housed) discusses sustainability concepts, including recycling, sustainable transportation options, LEED Buildings, and our STARS Rating at new employee orientation. This orientation is required for all incoming employees an takes place on a recurring schedule as employees are hired.
Sustainability materials are also included in the new employee welcome packs including a list of sustainability resources on campus.
Other offices cover UMass Lowell's commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. In-person training has paused during during the COVID-19 pandemic but the new employee trainings have continued to be offered virtually.
