Green Navigators

A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):

The Green Navigators provide a variety of programs and services focused on residential students and the campus community as a whole. These include coordinating the New2U collection and Yard Sale program, Project Clean Plate in coordination with Dining Services, and the Sustainability Movie Series. They also do special outreach for programming in the residence halls on recycling, taking shorter showers and washing clothes in cold water.

Green Navigators have a two day training program before classes begin in the fall, along with weekly staff/training meetings. We train them on how to interact with other students in order to encourage behavior change, environmental impact and the reduction of waste.


A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):

The main audience are residential students. The goal is to help students understand that they have an impact on the institution's carbon footprint in how they live, work and study while at the University.

Our Admissions Ambassadors receive training on the sustainable features of the University. This is further reinforced during their campus tours, where sustainable features are referenced along the tour.
