A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:

Basing our work on the methodology developed by Colorado State University, we created a list of sustainability terms that were used as search criteria to identify sustainability related research for all awarded grants in FY17-FY19. We then reviewed the list for consistency. All of the information for this credit was derived from this vetted search.
Total number of the institution’s faculty and/or staff that are engaged in research was determined by those identified as having received grants for research that had been deemed to be sustainability related.
The number of academic departments listed in AC 9 differs from that number in PRE 5 because we have excluded academic departments that do not conduct research.
