Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
In 2008 UMass Amherst was granted the Carnegie status of 'Public Engaged Campus'. A survey done at that time showed at least 3,025 students were involved in CSL classes. We estimate that well over 1,500 ADDITIONAL students are involved in outside volunteering, not for academic credit. Because we have no hard data on this volunteering number, we have listed consdervatively a total of 3,500 total involved.
