The College Park City-University Partnership is the nonprofit local development corporation jointly funded by the City of College Park and the University of Maryland. Our mission is to promote and support the economic welfare of College Park and the University of Maryland through activities including commercial revitalization, community development, and quality housing opportunities consistent with the interests of the City of College Park and the University of Maryland.

The Partnership released the “University Community Vision 2030” in 2021, capturing historic progress towards marking College Park a top 20 sustainable college town and highlighting the new vision, goals, and strategic areas for College Park in 2030: sustainability and equity in housing and development, transportation and mobility, public health and safety, and education. The mission of the Partnership for Action Learning in Sustainability is to build more sustainable communities throughout the state of Maryland. The program is designed to provide low-cost assistance to local governments while creating valuable real-world problem solving experiences for University of Maryland graduate and undergraduate students.

This experiential-learning program allows UMD to use its abundance of knowledgeable and energetic students and faculty to promote sustainability while contributing to or initiating sustainable community efforts. Staff from the Partnership for Action Learning in Sustainability match community needs with existing university courses to develop and implement new sustainability efforts across the state.
