A brief description of the institution’s bicycle program, including the year the award was achieved and/or renewed:
In 2014, the University of Maryland was ranked gold under the Bicycle Friendly University Program. The Department of Transportation Services encourages bike use by providing free bike registration on campus, and provides resources for bicyclists. The University encourages bicycle commuting by providing over 4,634 bicycle parking spaces and by sponsoring the Good Morning Commuters breakfast for bicyclist commuters.
