Yes

A brief description of steps taken to reduce hazardous, special (e.g. coal ash), universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:
UMBC Environmental Safety's program is responsible for the removal of regulated or potentially regulated waste from University facilities and for overseeing the proper disposal of the waste. The types of waste collected include laboratory reagents, spent solvents, and used oil. Also instructs generators in chemical safety, hazardous waste management, and waste minimization, as well as responding to chemical spills that occur on campus.

A brief description of how the institution safely disposes of hazardous, universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:
Environmental Safety and Health oversees the proper management of hazardous, universal, and non-regulated wastes in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations. Adhering to these regulations, as well as good management practices, ensures that UMBC is operating to protect the safety and health of all members of the University community and to protect research, equipment, facilities and the environment.

No significant releases of hazardous materials.

A brief description of any inventory system employed by the institution to facilitate the reuse or redistribution of laboratory chemicals:
None at this time.

UMBC has an e-CYCLE program for recycling electronics and other machines, including batteries. We partner with MOU Enterprises Inc. which states "M.O.U. Enterprises cares about the environment and ensures that we will recycle your electronic and computer scrap in the most efficient, safe and environmentally friendly manner. We fully pledge to a “Zero Landfill” policy. We manage all waste streams ensuring that end-of-life materials are processed with a commitment of compliance with all regulatory environmental requirements, preventing pollution and reducing environmental impact. We filter all E-scrap through our warehouse ensuring that your electronics are handled safely and securely." http://www.mouenterprisesinc.com/
