Eco- Ambassadors Program
A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
Eco-Ambassadors are a funded team of UMBC students working with the University's Sustainability Office promoting efforts to advance social responsibility and environmental sustainability in the student body. The eco-ambassadors work throughout the semesters to engage students based on projects important to them. Fall 2019 examples included eco-ambassadors leading and collaborating with their peers in residential life to pilot composting program in the residential halls and meeting with various student groups to create a collaborative coalition of sustainability-focused organizations on campus to work towards common goals (e.g. removing water bottles from meal plans). Additional efforts for spring '20 include: working on pollinator habitat protection and expansion and helping to create a student green guide.

Eco-Ambassadors educate their peers (undergraduates) in residential, commuter, academic, and extracurricular settings about environmental solutions in order to empower UMBC to adopt environmentally friendly practices.
