The Green Office Program offers a guide for campus offices to incorporate green practices into day-to-day operations while directly contributing to the University of Manitoba’s sustainability goals. Participation in the program requires little time commitment and is facilitated by the Green Office Program and support from the Office of Sustainability. Simple and effective changes in your office space can support healthy lifestyle choices and provide an outstanding work environment. Examples of peer-to-peer events include Commuter Challenge, Bike to Work Day, Jack Frost challenge, and Nature walks.


A brief description of how the employee educators are selected:

The Green Office Representative program is promoted by the Office of Sustainability. Interested employees can apply to participate in the program and receive orientation and training on ways to make their office more sustainable.


A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach:

Green Office Representatives receive orientation training and a Green Office Handbook to help guide their office initiatives and gives them information to spread throughout the office on sustainability lifestyle changes.


A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or paid faculty/staff coordination):

The Green Office Representative program is run by the Office of Sustainability. Promotional material or time required to run the program is funded through the office of Sustainability budget.
