A brief description of the graduate-level degree program:

Landscape Architecture is a creative profession concerned with analysis, planning, design and management of the land at scales varying from whole regions to small individual sites. Landscape architects integrate and apply knowledge of ecology, socio-cultural factors, economics and aesthetics to create environments that are functional, innovative, sustainable, appropriate and attractive. Desirable personal attributes include a creative imagination, problem-solving skills and good graphics and verbal communication skills.

Master of Environment

A brief description of the graduate degree program (2nd program):

The Master of Environment is an interdisciplinary program focusing on basic, and applied research. Dealing with, the complex relationships among the environment, earth, natural resources, and society at large. The program is interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary, allowing students to take courses in, and work with researchers from a number of departments within the University.

The Master of Environment was created to facilitate research that incorporates or explicitly speaks to human beings as part of living landscapes. Participants have a wide range of backgrounds and generally incorporate at least two of the biological, physical, and social sciences in their research in remote, rural, or urban regions. A required "environmental methodologies" course GEOG 7360 facilitates discussion among participants, at once developing insight, and sensitivity to a wide diversity of research methods, creating linkages amongst students in the program, and evaluating the implications of involving resource dependent communities in research.

Sustainability Theme - Asper School of Business, Masters of Business Administration

A brief description of the graduate minor, concentration or certificate:

The Master of Business Administration program has a sustainability theme incorporated into its operations. Graduates will explore business from a triple bottom line perspective of People, Planet and Profit. They are also taught the principles of sustainable development, recognizing the interconnectedness of economic prosperity, environmental integrity and social equity, as well as balancing multiple forms of wellbeing (including financial, ecological and social) for stakeholders such as owners, employees, customers, suppliers, partners, government, society, and future generations.
