Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
The University of Manitoba (U of M) is a public university in the province of Manitoba, Canada. Located in Winnipeg, it is a research-intensive post-secondary educational institution. Founded in 1877, it was Western Canada’s first university. The University of Manitoba has three main locations—the Bannatyne Campus, the Fort Garry Campus and the William Norrie Centre. The main Fort Garry campus (located on the Red River in south Winnipeg) comprises over 60 teaching and research buildings of the University and sits on 233 hectares (580 acres) of land. The boundaries of the campus as described in this submission refer to what is commonly referred to as the "core campus" of the Fort Garry Campus. The adjacent Point Lands (agricultural research area) are also included. The Smart Park area and Investors Group Field/recreational precinct are not included as management of/responsibility for these areas is external, fragmented and/or dynamic. Future submissions will consider their inclusion.
