A community engagement office (part of Vice President (External)'s portfolio) manages engagement for the University and supports the activities of all units.

Engaging, supporting and empowering Indigenous communities is a priority for the University. A variety of support programs and services are available for Indigenous students and staff. The University is home to the National Research Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. http://umanitoba.ca/indigenous/

The University of Manitoba is involved in more than 200 programs/partnerships in Winnipeg's inner-city.

Community Engagement unit organizes Visionary Conversations (open to community),

The Community Engagement office supports Outreach Awards and a community stories project.
