Engaging, supporting and empowering Indigenous communities is a priority for the University. A variety of support programs and services are available for Indigenous students and staff. The University is home to the National Research Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. http://umanitoba.ca/indigenous/ The University of Manitoba is involved in more than 200 programs/partnerships in Winnipeg's inner-city.

Extensive engagement has supported work on Visionary Regeneration - a new campus master planning project (preceded by a design competition). The Campus Planning Office has built a strong and productive relationship with the community through a Neighborhood Network which meets regularly to discuss issues of community impact/importance. Community Engagement unit organizes Visionary Conversations (open to community), The Community Engagement office supports Outreach Awards and a community stories project. Open Doors Open Knowledge (business community/industry collaboration)
