A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
Since October 2013 and in coordination with the Office of Sustainability, new employee orientation for staff includes topics on sustainability. A section of the orientation talks about the role of the Office of Sustainability, and how the University of Manitoba promotes sustainability through energy conservation, waste reduction, procurement, and zero pesticide use in turf management. The orientation also includes some of the programs that promote social sustainability such as preference for Fair Trade products, community gardens, and health and wellness programs. The Learning and Development Services offers employee orientation, which include sustainability topics to new staff. The director of the Office of Sustainability discusses sustainability topics in the new employee orientations.
